Frequently asked questions
How does the model finder pick my model?
Each answer gives points to the five models, for example the question about your GP to the GP model, or the question about an initial consultation by phone to the telemedicine model. The model with the most points is the recommendation; you see the reasons below it. It is a guide, not advice.
Are my answers stored?
No. The answers are only in your browser’s address bar so that you can share the result. We store nothing and do not ask for health data.
Is a savings model sensible for people with chronic illnesses?
Often yes, if a GP practice coordinates the treatment. If you see many different specialists directly, you are freer in the standard model. The benefits are the same in every model (Art. 41 para. 4 KVG).
What happens if I do not follow the rules of the model?
If you see a doctor without following the required route, the insurer does not have to pay for that treatment (Art. 41 para. 4 KVG). Many insurance conditions also provide for exclusion from the model after repeated breaches. Emergencies are always exempt.
